COMMENTARY ON THE PREMIER DEBATE
July 16, 2008
Well, it is less “excited” as compared to what I was expected.
None the less, it still a great leap, on our democracy system.
There is no “magic formula” has been released by Anwar Ibrahim. However, his proposal on review our present budget, is always practical, and beneficial to the people.
To me, I don’t think it’s impossible for the government to review the contract with the Independent Powers Providers (IPP). If government can review their concession contracts with highway operators, I am sured they can find a way on that.
Just, don’t get Lingam involved. Because I am fear he will keep on saying “correct, correct, correct“, on the negotiation table.
But time given, is limited. Therefore I can’t see the sparks in a short moment.
Ahmad Shabery Cheek’s performance, it is beyond my expectation. Ha ha, he is a good debater, confidently in front of Anwar.
But, he didn’t answer the question well, or because he is unable to answer it well.
I am interested, where the petrol subsidies which has been reduced and set aside for the allocation on expenditure on public transport. It’s not a small amount, it’s RM 400 million.
The government made their pledge, and the government shall accountable for their promises. The rest, people will judge it by themselves.
Yes I agree with you that Datuk Shabery spoke well. Unfortunately for him, he was put in a indefensible position of not upsetting the apple cart of his corrupt colleagues.
Nonetheless, it was refreshing to see a young minister daring to go up against a known orator.
If only there are more like him in the cabinet.
I was expecting the debate to be a bit longer time, since 1 hour really cant help much on such a huge issue. It seems like only ‘acting’ for the sake of the public. It should be held for a bit longer time, and some ‘fighting’ on facts and figure over this issue.
But anyway, our minister done well in what he should be as an Information Minister (cum politician), as he always will be so good in public speaking.
For A.I., as he always the same type of speaking and playing around audience’s emotions, that’s what i hate him the most. Anyway, somehow he had meet his target.
I wonder what will happen to him after tomorrow. Let us all wait and see.
