Taming Leviathan
I am disappointed with the on-going political developments in Malaysia, as I realize that our politicians are more concerned about their personal political agendas and their political party’s interests, rather for the benefit of the people.
To me, there are only a few bona fide politicians in Malaysia.
Our present politicians may be far-sighted, by keep on eyeing and planning for what is going to happen in the next general election. But majority of them has neglected their duties for this present moment.
As an active citizen, I believe all of us are capable in bringing some positive changes to our nation.
Well, let me recommend another book from Institute of Economic Affairs, titled as “Taming Leviathan’, which discussed how the civil think tanks had improved the world.

VoP,
Like you I’m also having difficulties with those “on my chosen side”.
I guess God is fair, he makes idiots from BOTH sides of the political divide! And unfortunately, these idiots captures the imagination of our ‘less than fair MSM’ from those who really care for our country but does not make for good headlines which sells papers.
In my mind, Malaysian politics is a paradox, those who are most capable to lead and run the country would be the last to step forward and be counted (these people can only operate if their security is assured and there is a level playing field).
Instead we have idiots with personal agendas who makes the most noise having their hands up and saying “choose me”!
I know this is going to sound sacrileges but I do not think things will change in this country unless there is ‘revolution’ to overthrow our present crop of politicians who prevent true patriots from moving to the forefront.
I’m thinking of selling Dr Hsu’s idea of a third force but from a distance with BN or PR. I think it may work if we can get enough ordinary Malaysians to come on board.
Care to help me?
Romerz,
Well, I am not aware of Dr. Hsu’s idea. Perhaps you can share this with me, at here, or when we meet.
For your information, I am moving to third force, in a form of civil think tanks. I am ready to work with any political parties, through the civil think tank, from issue to issue.
Yes, let us have some discussions on this.
Good for you VoP. Independent think tanks are good in providing the possible solutions to our country’s problems but street fighters are also needed since our present crop of politicians only understand tough actions.
Herein lies the problem. Malaysia has no shortage of capable and fair-minded people nor shallow thinking chest-thumping street fighters.
Malaysia is short of smart and capable problem solvers but with the balls to take to the street if the situation warrants it. This is the problem.
Only black and white without the grey but there is a full spectrum of colors for which our country would be the better of if they would step forward and be counted.
On Dr Hsu’s 3rd force, he had been advocating it all along since 8 March last year. To get Gerakan to leave BN and independently provide another choice for ordinary Malaysians.
Originally I agreed with him but having seen the pathetic demeanor of Gerakan’s leadership, I have since concluded that Gerakan has no further role to play in the Malaysian political context. The party’s present leadership is hopeless and should be considered as enemy in the same light as UMNO.
Perhaps I should get back to Dr Hsu and remind him that his party’s time-frame for leaving the BN is almost up. And it is time to think outside the box and give Malaysians an alternative from our ‘idiotic’ politicians!
My friend your president has changed so much that I no longer recognize him. I think for your party to have a hope of survival, he and his cohorts have to be ‘retired’ and this require action from the grassroots.
Let me share a joke with you.
Last week I was told this by someone I hardly know. If you want a sure win in an election, stand against KTK in the next election! KTK will not win another election for the rest of his life unless he moves to Sabah or Sarawak!
And even then that is a big maybe!
Romerz,
I am not a ‘philosophical warrior’. I am neither possess the qualities, nor I have the intention to be that somebody.
Dr. Hsu’s proposition is too idealistic for me. Gerakan is not going to be a third force in anyway. This is because not only the leaders refuse to, but also the members.
I guess, by now, you will realize how disappointed I am against the party, the leaders and even the members-at-large.
Let us not wasting our time to discuss about Gerakan. Let us focus and plan what is good for the people.
Overdose of politics!

Where is the common sense which our country needs now more than ever?
