“Everyone has the right to nationality. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality” – Article 15, Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The politicians from UMNO love to make negative inferences.
Whenever anyone criticizes the government, these UMNO’s leaders will label him or her as “unpatriotic”.
And whenever anyone questions the “seditious statement” made by the Malay-chauvinists, these UMNO’s leaders would suggest the government to “strip the citizenship” of those questioning the chauvinists.
I just want to comment on the legality of stripping one’s citizenship. I am not going to discuss the “seditious music video” from Namawee.
Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, the Chief of the “UMNO’s Princess”, made the suggestion to “strip the citizenship” on 27.8.2010. Then, Mohd Ali Rustam, the Chief Minister of Malacca and the former Vice President also made the same call on 31.8.2010.
I took my time and read the Federal Constitution carefully, and I found out, none of the provisions between Article 23 and 28A or the entire Chapter 2 of the Federal Constitution allows the government to “strip the citizenship” of anyone who is born in Malaysia after the independent.
Please do correct me if I am wrong.
I believe, Rosnah and Mohd Ali Rustam may not understand our Federal Constitution well. I believe their mistakes were unintentional.
And I am not drawing any negative inferences on them and start labeling them as “unpatriotic” on their ignorance on the Federal Constitution.
But, if someone ignores the Federal Constitution, then would he or she lead the country with respecting to the rule of law?
I have doubts.
Md ali rustam baba is was a ex TNB meter reader who could have no understanding of the constitution. How could anyone expect any intelligent comment from a labourer menial job person like him.
i think most of them r
You can have my citizenship, I had given it up for some years now and I know some Malaysians had even thrown them down you know …!
I am sure there are lots of Malaysians who like to do that too if they are able to get out of this God forsaken country.
The chief of the UMNO ‘princess’ and the M.Ali Rustam are very racist and their thought are all filled with the ‘ketuanan melayu’ thing.that is why they are daring to call for such action against Namewee. It is bcos of this attitude that such thought came out of their mind.
The problem with our govt is this, they may not very well have that right but thats certainly not going to stop them.
They stop renewing your passport first, then they confiscate your IC first chance they get, say at a traffic police inspection.
You know what after that ? The govt will say, Sue me lah! And you know whats our Judiciary’s track records with regards to constiuitional interpretations, what UMNO says, UMNO gets.
Since when has the fact that if the constituition say cannot ever stopped UMNO ? U think for a moment lah.
Who will the judges rule in favour.
And then what r u going to do ?
To Sunwayopal @11.10am,
And then what r u going to do ?
My answer is ‘vote them out in GE13′.
Say it out loud and clear!
Many agree that patriotic Malaysians do not engage in corruption. I call on Malaysian government to strip the citizenship of all the corrupter in UMNO, MCA, Gerakan, MIC and those political parties from Sarawak.
It would be nice to see a stateless Toyol and Taib.
Its will be certainly great ,to sent Toyol and Taib to the Bendera team in Indonesia….but with the asset this pirates have..they will probably buy the pejabat Pendaftaran negara …and have them working for them instead..we have to wait for 13th GE………!!!
